Testing and contact tracing

On-campus testing

Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 6:30 a.m. to 3:45 p.m.

Sequential testing is required for all students who have received a medical or religious exemption or who are undergoing vaccination but are not yet fully vaccinated (full vaccination begins two weeks after the last dose of vaccine).

Fully vaccinated students are not required to participate in sequential COVID-19 testing. If desired, fully vaccinated students can schedule up to one COVID-19 test per week at no cost. Appointments are mandatory and must be scheduled in the Aura app.

Please note that face coverings are mandatory inside the Graham Building testing site, regardless of COVID-19 transmission rates or other University mask requirements. Please bring a mask for your visit.

Testing will be available Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 6:30 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. in the Graham Building. Students must use the Aura app to register for appointments and bring their phone and Bucknell ID card with them to the testing site.

Download the Aura app through the Bucknell app, available from the Apple and Google Play app stores. Go to the Health and Wellness section of the app and look for the Herd Health icon. When you click on the Herd Health icon, you will be prompted to download the Aura app.

Instructions for scheduling your test and getting results

  1. Open the Bucknell app and click on the Herd Health icon on your mobile device.

Tests by other vendors

If you take a COVID test from an off-campus provider (such as CVS or Evangelical Community Hospital) and receive a positive result, call Bucknell Student Health immediately at 570-577-1401. Protocols differ depending on the type of test that gave the positive result.

PCR tests: If you take an outdoor PCR test and it returns a positive result for COVID-19, you will be moved to isolation accommodation for at least five days from the date of your positive PCR test and released on day six if your symptoms have disappeared or improved. The University will not retest a student who receives a positive PCR test result. The student is considered positive for COVID-19.

Antigen tests: If you have symptoms of COVID-19 and receive a positive test result on an external antigen test, contact Student Health immediately to be connected with a health care provider. You will be moved to isolation accommodation and tested for COVID-19 by Student Health with a PCR test. If the PCR test result is negative, you will be released from isolation accommodation. If the PCR test result is positive, you will stay in isolation accommodation for five days from the date of your positive antigen test with a release on day six if you do not have a fever and your symptoms resolve.

The University will not accept negative test results obtained from other sources for release from isolation housing or sequential testing requirements.

Contact tracing

Bucknell has coordinated its own contact tracing program to notify members of the campus community (students and employees) who have been in close contact with individuals with confirmed cases of COVID-19, and to monitor exposure to COVID -19 on campus. This is for those who have not submitted complete vaccination documentation to Bucknell Student Health.

If you have been in contact with someone with a confirmed case of COVID-19, a member of the contact tracing team can call you and give you instructions. This call may be from a number you do not recognize. It is important that you answer calls on your phone and follow the instructions provided by the contact tracers. Depending on your exposure and vaccination status, you may be asked to:

  • Quarantine in isolation accommodation for 10 days with release on the 11th day. The quarantine can be shortened with a negative test passed by the University.
  • No quarantine, but monitor your health with the daily symptom tracker in the Aura app and, if you experience symptoms, self-isolate and alert Bucknell Student Health

Students who have been fully vaccinated and have been identified as close contacts of someone who tested positive for COVID-19, but do not have symptoms of COVID-19 themselves, will not be required to self-isolate. quarantine. The contact tracer will verify your documentation with Student Health.
