Swiggy delivery man helps worried parents contact his son, netizens are moved
A Twitter user took to the microblogging site on Monday to recount how a Swiggy delivery man showed the embodiment of humanity and helped an elderly couple “connect with their dear son” at Secondabad. The online food ordering and delivery platform’s Twitter account was quick enough to pick up on the story and praised the delivery partner.
Here is the story
Twitter user Saikiran Kannan shared an incident, in which an elderly couple, also a distant relative, asked his mother for help when they were unable to contact their son for a few days. .
Saikiran’s mother thought of delivering “cookies and juice” via Swiggy’s grocery delivery option -Swiggyinstamart. She attempted to determine if the person, labeled “Mr X” by Saikiran, was at his home and was “safe and sound”. Saikiran’s mother would have contacted the police if this effort had proved fruitless.
“Since it was very late on a Sunday night, my mom decided to take a chance with @SwiggyInstamart by picking out some cookies and juice to deliver there. Her idea was to check out Mr. X and make sure that he was safe and sound. A complaint to the police was the next option.”
Saikiran’s mother picked out a few items and ordered delivery to the address provided by the old couple. When the delivery partner arrived on the scene, they were unable to locate the correct house. The address seemed confusing.
It was later understood that the address provided was incorrect. When the delivery partner arrived at the wrong address, it was 9:15 p.m. When the search proved futile, Saikiran’s mother asked the delivery partner to keep the items for him and thanked him for his efforts.
Following the failed attempt, Saikiran’s mother asked the elderly couple to provide the contact details of their son’s friends to get more information about Mr. X’s whereabouts. They found the right location now. “Now we got the exact location on Google Maps of where Mr. X was staying with all the right directions and details. But, it was already 9:45 p.m.,” Saikiran wrote.
It should be noted that they found the correct address, at least half an hour after the failed attempt. It was then that Saikiran’s mother contacted the winning delivery partner and asked if he could go and check, this time on the correct address.
The delivery guy agreed to do it. “The delivery person was kind enough to say that he would do it once his delivery note was in progress,” Saikiran informed.
After the delivery was completed, Swiggy’s delivery partner, Srinath Srikanth, again attempted to reach Mr. X, exactly thirty minutes later. Once Mr. X responded to the knock from Swiggy’s delivery partner, “he handed the phone to Mr. X and asked my mom to confirm he was the one she was looking for.” And he was there!”
Then Saikiran informs that Mr. X had an accident a few days ago. Mr. X was under strong medication. “He didn’t want his parents to worry and so avoided taking their calls. Now he was better! Soon after, he called his parents and told his story,” Saikiran said.
By the time delivery partner Swiggy was able to make contact and deliver the item, it was 10:30 p.m.!
After the ordeal was resolved through the kindness of Swiggy’s delivery partner, Srinath Srikanth also delivered the items to Mr. X, which Saikiran’s mother had asked to keep for him. This won the heart of Saikiran’s mother and she asked for Srinath Srikanth’s Gpay details and transferred money to him to compensate for having “exceeded expectations to help an old couple get in touch with their dear son!
“To give a bit of context on how it was done. My mother lives in Bangalore. The old couple lives in Chennai…and Mr. X is in Secunderabad,” Saikiran added.
Swiggy was quick to note this act from the delivery partner and requested details of the delivery from Swiggy Instamart so they could “appreciate him for his efforts”.
“Hey Saikiran, we have to say it was your mother’s determination and quick-wittedness that combined well with the sense of community responsibility displayed by our delivery partner that made it possible for all of us to find MX We hope he is better now! In the meantime, we would really appreciate if you could share the order ID here as it would help us to contact the delivery partner in question and appreciate them for their efforts,” Swiggy wrote on Twitter.
