No contact yet between BVB and Galatasaray despite Roman Bürki rumors

There has been no contact between Borussia Dortmund and Galatasaray regarding Roman Bürki’s transfer yet, despite rumors claiming otherwise.

After losing his place as Borussia Dortmund’s first-choice goalkeeper last season, Roman Bürki has been free to leave the club for over six months now. The Swiss shot-stopper hasn’t attracted any concrete offers in the summer transfer window. But it looks like that finally changed on Friday as reports in Turkey claimed that Galatasaray were set to sign Bürki on a loan deal until the end of the season.

But this information has now been denied by several media. Both Blick and Ruhr Nachrichten claim that there has been no contact between Borussia Dortmund and Galatasaray over Bürki’s transfer so far. The Istanbul-based club are looking for a new goalkeeper following Fernando Muslera’s injury. But it remains to be seen if Bürki will join them.

Bürki hasn’t played or even been on the bench for Borussia Dortmund since May and finds himself behind Gregor Kobel and Marwin Hitz in the goalkeeping pecking order. His final appearance for the club came on the final day of last season in the 3-1 win over Bayer Leverkusen.

Marco Rose praised Bürki in November for the professionalism he has shown in training this season despite losing his spot as the club’s number one goalkeeper.

Bürki, who joined Borussia Dortmund in 2015, has made a total of 232 appearances for the club. He has kept 83 clean sheets in all competitions for the Blacks and Yellows. The former SC Freiburg keeper has 18 months left on his current contract with BVB.
