Moriah College has been notified by NSW Health that a member of the school community has tested positive for COVID-19.
In an email to parents on Thursday evening, the college said its Queens Park campus, including the ELC, will not be operational today (Friday) for on-site attendance of staff, students and visitors to allow time for contact tracing and cleaning. .
All staff and students who attended the college on Tuesday August 31 are asked to self-isolate until they receive further guidance.
The AJN understands that the positive case is a non-teaching member of the Moriah school community.
Stating: ‘We plan to reopen after Shabbat’, the college’s deputy principal, Roberta Goot, told parents: ‘The college will continue to work closely with NSW Health to ensure the health and safety of all students and staff. staff.
“The safety and wellbeing of our students and staff is of paramount importance to us. As such, we will continue to work closely with NSW Health to ensure that all necessary health advice is implemented.
She added: “While we recognize this may be disruptive and inconvenient for some families, it is important that we follow the advice of NSW Health and take all necessary precautions to minimize the risk of further transmission to support our community.”
Meanwhile, Reddam House School closed its Woollahra campus on Thursday after a Year 4 pupil tested positive.
NSW Health has asked anyone who has been sick or if you develop symptoms such as fever, cough, sore throat, shortness of breath, runny nose, loss of smell/taste, muscle/joint pain, diarrhoea, nausea/vomiting or extreme tiredness to be tested at one of the COVID-19 testing clinics.
