Midland City Council will vote on Tuesday on a dry cleaning and laundry contract with Pristine Organic Cleaners 2, which is owned by Councilman Dan Corrales’ family.

The one-year contract is $292,490 with four possible renewals in one-year increments. Dry cleaning and laundry services are for police, fire, municipal court, transportation, vehicle services, and water and sewage services. The city packet shows at least two different conflict of interest acknowledgments signed by Pristine Organic Cleaners owner Michelle Carrasco, the councilman’s wife. Dan Corrales won one of two seats elected in the November elections.

City documents show Pristine Organic Cleaners 2 was one of three bidders – Comet Cleaners on Briarwood Avenue and Midland Cleaning LLC in the 4200 block of Wadley Avenue were the others.

Pristine Organic Cleaners 2 made a total bid of $292,490. Midland Cleaning LLC’s offer was $349,492.66. Comet Cleaners’ bid came to $537,055.

City staff recommends contract approval with Pristine Organic Cleaners 2.
