Gurgaon: Amid the surge in Covid-19 cases in the city, the Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon (MCG) will soon reactivate its control room for contact tracing and also designate days for household biomedical waste collection Covid patients.
“We are reactivating our control room with a staff of 15 people and have also installed 10 computers. The staff will increase with the increase in the number of cases. The main function of the control room is to trace positive cases and their contacts. Control room staff are also updating real-time data of Covid cases on a portal accessible to police and other officials,” MCG Co-Commissioner (Headquarters) Hariom Attri said. He added that the civic body will delegate a team of five to ensure Covid protocols are followed at the time of cremations or burials.
“We are going to ensure proper collection of biomedical waste by providing yellow bags in door-to-door collection vehicles. Other than that, we will delegate nodal officers to provide disinfection in the micro-containment areas and coordinate regularly with the police and the health department,” Additional Commissioner Vaishali Sharma told TOI. This was discussed during a recent meeting held between MCG officials and Gurgaon Chief Medical Officer Virender Yadav, officials said.
Additionally, MCG will also launch a mobile health van that will distribute essential medicines and Ayurvedic immunity boosting kits to all wards. The mobile van will gradually be used to test symptomatic people, Sharma said. The company will also offer a schedule for the collection of biomedical waste from homes affected by Covid. Biomedical waste includes used PPE kits, masks, gloves, syringes, and tissues or cotton soaked in bodily fluids or blood.
