Man arrested for ludeness in Raritan on suspicion of explicit contact with victims in Bridgewater, Franklin Township

Somerset County authorities report the arrest of Rogelio Calyeca Postrero, 38, in connection with an act of obscenity that occurred in the borough of Raritan on August 4, 2022, and forged government documents that occurred in Branchburg on December 20 2021.
Officials said Postrero was also later charged with a sexual assault that occurred at Duke Island Park around 8:45 p.m. on Sunday, July 18, 2021 in Bridgewater Township and a sexual assault that occurred near Blackwells Mills Road and Canal Road around 5 o’clock. :50 pm on Monday, May 16, in Franklin Township.
Prosecutor McDonald said that on Thursday, August 4, 2022, at approximately 9:06 a.m., Raritan Borough Police received a 9-1-1 call reporting that a Hispanic male in the Nevius Street Bridge area possibly masturbating in public.
Upon arrival, Raritan Borough Police officers made contact with Rogelio Postrero, a person in the bridge area who matched the description provided by the 9-1-1 caller.
Raritan Borough Police contacted detectives from the Somerset County Attorney’s Office Sex Crimes and Child Abuse Unit, who responded to investigate.
Following the investigation, officials said Postrero was arrested and charged on August 4, 2022 with obscenity, a disorderly person offense.
During this investigation, it was also determined that Rogelio Postrero was using fraudulent identification for employment purposes in Somerset County, New Jersey. Defendant Postrero was also charged with two 3rd degree counts of knowingly presenting false documents.
Defendant Postrero was held in Somerset County Jail pending a detention hearing.
During the ongoing investigation, Rogelio Postrero has been determined to resemble both the New Jersey State Police composite sketch and the description provided by the victim of a sexual assault that occurred in the township. of Bridgewater on July 18, 2021, as well as the composite sketch and New Jersey State Police description provided by the victim of a sexual assault that occurred in Franklin Township on May 16, 2022.
Prosecutor McDonald said that on July 18, 2021, at approximately 9:07 p.m., Bridgewater Township police received a 9-1-1 call reporting a sexual assault at Duke Island Park.
Upon arrival, officers encountered an adult female victim, a resident of a nearby town who said she was sexually assaulted by an unknown man while riding her bicycle in the park.
Detectives from the Bridgewater Police Department and the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Sex Crimes Unit led the investigation.
The victim reported that the suspect approached behind her, held a knife to her throat and demanded money.
After handing over her money, the victim reported that the man sexually assaulted her in the nearby bushes and fled the area on a bicycle towards Raritan.
The victim described the suspect as a Hispanic male, about 5’4 to 5’6 tall, weighing between 151 and 175 pounds. medium to stocky build and olive to dark complexion. The man was reportedly in his 30s with short black hair wearing a black balaclava and dark pants.
Prosecutor McDonald said that on Monday, May 16, 2022, at approximately 6:03 p.m., Franklin Township police responded to a 9-1-1 call reporting a sexual assault on a park trail near Blackwells Mills Road and Canal Road.
Upon arrival, officers encountered an adult female victim, who said she was assaulted by an unknown male while running on the trail. Franklin Township Police, along with officers from the Hillsborough Township Police Department, the Southern Brunswick Police Department and the Montgomery Township Police Department, established a perimeter to locate the suspect.
Detectives from the Franklin Township Police Department and the Somerset County District Attorney’s Office Major Crimes Unit, Sex Crimes Unit, Crime Scene Investigation Unit and police from New Jersey State Park responded to investigate.
The victim reported to authorities that the unknown male suspect, who was on a bicycle, got off his bike and tackled her to the ground as she was running down a trail. The female victim got into a fight with the suspect as he attempted to sexually assault her.
The victim was able to fight off his attacker and escape the attack, immediately notifying the authorities by dialing 9-1-1. The victim described the suspect as a Hispanic male, approximately 5’6″ to 5’7″, of heavier build, in his mid-30s, wearing black pants or shorts, a green hoodie and a blue alligator face covering.
The suspect reportedly fled the area on a bicycle. The victim was taken to a local hospital for treatment and released.
Once it was determined that the accused Postrero resembled the New Jersey State Police composite sketches, further investigation was conducted, which involved the issuance of a Superior Court search warrant. for the residence of the accused Rogelio Postrero.
Following the execution of the Superior Court’s search warrant, more evidence was found, including a bicycle that matched the description provided during the Franklin Township assault investigation.
In addition, analysis was performed by the New Jersey State Police Bureau’s Central Regional Laboratory for Forensic Sciences, which confirmed that the DNA of Defendant Rogelio Postrero matched the profile obtained during the previous assault at Duke Island Park in Bridgewater Township.
Prosecutor McDonald said on Friday, Aug. 5, 2022, authorities have charged defendant Rogelio Calyeca Postrero with two counts of first-degree aggravated sexual assault.
Defendant Postrero remains housed in Somerset County Jail, pending a detention hearing in the case
