MACON COUNTY, Ill. (WAND) – The Macon County Health Department announced that there will be changes to contact tracing.
The department said Monday, beginning Tuesday, Dec. 28, IDPH will modify contact tracing to be more centralized at the state’s Surge Center.
All positive cases will receive an automated SMS stating the following: “IDPH COVID: There is important information for you. Call 312-777-1999 or click: ttps://dph.illinois.gov/covid19/community-guidance/confirmed-or-possible-covid-19.html”
People 65 and over will receive an additional text message if the initial message does not result in a response. MCHD said if someone has tested positive and hasn’t received a call or text, they can call 312-777-1999.
Most positive cases and close contacts will speak with the IDPH Surge Center during the contact tracing process. The MCHD said it would still be involved in dealing with some cases as well as outbreaks and clusters. The ministry is still awaiting some details on the logistics of the changes.
Additionally, beginning Monday, December 27, the ministry will release COVID-19 numbers and related information weekly. Reports will be released on Mondays, unless otherwise specified. The numbers will reflect Monday through Sunday of the previous week.
