Local Program Keeps Rochester Safe and Sanitary | Contact
ROCHESTER, Minnesota – Over the past year, Rochester’s Clean and Safe Ambassadors program has worked hard to ensure all 44 blocks of downtown public spaces are sanitized and people go where they need to. go safely.
Program manager Tom Claymon said the program focuses on three areas: cleaning, security and hospitality.
The program reports that it cleaned and disinfected more than 6,500 facilities throughout 2021 and recorded an almost 60% increase in biohazard cleaning in the area.
“The pandemic is still ongoing and obviously we are seeing this increase in cases,” said Katie Adelman of Downtown Rochester Alliance. “It’s more important than ever to be able to say that our clean and safe ambassadors are sanitizing everything for the safety of people.”
Clean and safe ambassadors also provide security escorts — a great service that many in the area aren’t really familiar with, Claymon said.
If you’re walking downtown and don’t feel safe answering your call, you can call an ambassador and they’ll make sure to get you to your car safely.
“I mean it’s a huge impact, and just the volume of work that our ambassadors do. They’re almost like a welcoming committee downtown, people who come here for a mayo clinic or for work or their only residents who maybe wanted to get downtown for a while – they just help make it a welcoming environment for anyone who comes here,” Adelman said.
Claymon said the Ambassadors are proud of all the work they do for the community and want everyone to feel safe and welcome.
