How to contact your representatives in Philadelphia and Pennsylvania

A great way to do something about an issue you care about is to simply contact your representatives. That means your state representatives, your federal representatives, Philadelphia City Council members, your ward leader, your committee member – anyone elected to improve your life.

Remember that each of these representatives works for you and want to hear what you think. And if they don’t, bad luck! They can go find another job to be dull.

You don’t know who your chosen ones are? Check out our guide for every member of city council, which includes direct contact links. For other state, national, and local offices, use this handy tool of the Committee of Seventy, or even Facebook town hall, where the representatives intervene regularly.

Tips for contacting your representatives

It’s so simple and effective:

  1. First of all, find who your local, state and federal elected officials are.
  2. Decide what topic you want to talk about. You can often find a script for each problem already created, which makes it easier to understand your point of view. Fair Districts PA has a bunch of printable materials on the right here.
  3. Call, email, send a letter, or better yet, tag them on social media with your message so everyone can chime in and retweet. Do!
