$20,000 bond after initial arrest; the judge sets a new bond at $1 million; the police are looking for information

PRINEVILLE, Ore. (KTVZ) — A Crook County judge on Friday set $1 million bail for a 58-year-old Corvallis man accused of trying to lure a 12-year-old girl into his car in Prineville, then later, after he was released on bail, allegedly contacted an adult victim of stalking.

Police say Ian Philip Goldberg parked his car on the side of North Main Street near NE Loper Avenue at around 12:40 p.m. on Saturday October 1 and verbally attempted to get a 12-year-old girl into his car, a green 1996 Mazda MX 6. He reportedly fled after being confronted by a witness who allegedly tried to intervene.

After an investigation, Goldberg was arrested and held in Crook County Jail on initial charges of attempted first- and second-degree kidnapping, stalking, reckless driving and reckless endangerment, officials said. officers.

Search warrants were served on Goldberg’s temporary residence, vehicle and cell phone. Police said investigators found Goldberg had committed other crimes of harassment with adult women.

Court records show Circuit Judge Daina Vitolins set the initial bond at $200,000 and ordered no contact with a Prineville hotel, no minors, four alleged victims and an address on McKay Road. He posted 10% of the $20,000 bond last Tuesday and was released from jail, court records show.

Following his release, Goldberg was re-arrested after allegedly contacting one of the adult victims of his initial arrest on Thursday, police said, violating the judge’s no-contact offer.

A grand jury indictment was issued Thursday and Goldberg pleaded not guilty Friday to the seven counts, which also included attempted unlawful delivery of marijuana to a minor, and the two new counts of threat and stalking, according to court records.

At Friday’s hearing, Vitolins set bail at $1 million, with the same release terms, and scheduled a preliminary hearing for Oct. 25.

Prineville police said Friday they are seeking information related to the cases or any other incidents or alleged victims involving Goldberg and his vehicle, a green 1996 Mazda MX6 with Oregon license plate CB19600.

The attempted kidnapping charges are Class B and C felonies; the other charges are Class A misdemeanors. Oregon court records for Goldberg also show no criminal history.
